Go With the Flow

This month's style tip focusses on soft ombre stripes, impressionist brushstrokes and painterly effects. Think soft metallics with splashes of lime green and turquoise - fun luxury!

Zoffany, Town and Country, 'Folio Linen'

Harlequin, Impasto, 'Giverny'

To add a dreamy serene feel to your bedroom, go with the current trend of papering all of your walls, in Zoffany's new 'Folio Linen' from the Town and Country wallpapers collection, coming to Sasha Interiors Monday! With its subtle metallic sheen and pop of colour, you'll stay up to date without being over the top. For a bolder interpretation of this month's style tip, have a sofa covered in Harlequin's 'Giverny' from the new Impasto range. The expressive brushstrokes will give a handmade homely feel without going down the vintage route. Try pairing your wallpaper or fabric with washed wood effect furniture to create a contrast in textures. To really make the most of this style tip, mix and match subtle patterns in different tones of the same colour, creating a flow of textures and palettes. (All of the above fabric and furniture is available from Sasha Interiors, Hereford.)

Personalise it!

Create your own shelves or coffee table from wine crates, or add pieces of drift wood for a soft natural touch.

Experiment with:
  • Trims! Multi-coloured pom poms or beaded trims will add a fun arts and crafts feel
  • Picture frames - create your own paint effects in coordinating colours, stipple, wash, sponge and rag roll your way to a unique feature!

A Ray of Sunshine

As the sun has faded, this month's style tip is to encourage you to create your own shimmering light in your home with the introduction of some subtle metallics. Think luxe golds and bronzes, shining silvers and bold colours with a hint of sparkle.

Zoffany - 'Mosaic'

Harlequin - 'Iola'

To introduce a beach bronzed sparkle to your home, try two or more walls in Zoffany's 'Mosaic,' with its subtle sand like texture, its sure to have you reminiscing over your last holiday in the sun. For a bolder statement design, try a feature wall in Harlequin's 'Iola,' its berry laden branches just shout summer and will provide an escape from the drizzle outside. For a crisp look, offset the metallics against fresh white ceramics and natural materials. Earthy tiles will emphasise the metallic surface, whilst the key colours of the wallpaper can be highlighted in coordinating cushions and lampshades. (All wallpapers available from Sasha Interiors, Hereford.)

Personalise it!

Spray paint seed heads and silk flowers in your chosen metallic colour to add a unique ornament. Update old photo frames in the same way, remembering simplicity is key to this look!

Experiment with:

  • Lighting - highlighting the texture of your wallpaper with feature lighting will really make it shimmer!
  • Rustic furniture - second hand wooden furniture will create a lively contrast of textures

Globe-trotting

With a new year beginning, this month's style tip is a great way to create a fresh look for your home and perhaps inspire some new dreams and ambitions! Think classic maps mixed with aztec inspired prints in earthy linen tones for a timeless and soothing atmosphere.

Zoffany - 'Trade Routes'

Linwood - 'Kilim'

Why not try a feature wall in your dining room in 'Trade routes' by Zoffany, to add a touch of sophistication to the room, or perhaps, for more impact, cover all of the walls in a small study for a sanctuary to escape to. Add window seat cushions in Linwood's 'Kilim' to create a luxurious yet upbeat feel. To really make the most out of this style tip, incorporate finds from holidays or handmade items with a story to tell, creating an eclectic and rich environment. This theme is all about memories and sentiment - so remember to keep it personal to you.

Personalise it!

Add splashes of bright colour by painting a feature wall or a door to create an exciting mix of pattern and vibrant colour. For a less dramatic change, try covering decorative objects in a map of your favourite holiday destination, try picture frames or vases!

Experiment with:

  • Your holiday souvenirs - transform a tea towel into a one off cushion
  • A mix of patterns to create a multicultural environment
